Timing

Take a look into a gallery controlled by Mosart and you may be surprised to see how calm the operation is, even during a constantly changing, up-to the second, high pace newscast filled with advanced visual expressions. One important reason for this is that Mosart constantly helps the Director maintain control of all timing issues.

Mosart interprets timing information from the newsroom computer system, including reading length, editorial story timing, show and break timing, and combines this with actual clip duration. Behavioral logic determines which content elements that will contribute to program duration, e.g. packages in the rundown should contribute, while FLOAT clips should not contribute before they are used.

Mosart timing displays and the user interfaces constantly show next break, story element countdown, total rundown over/under and next story. Mosart provides both visual and audio countdowns. Countdowns to external live events gives the Director necessary timing figures to pass on to field personnel.

Story elements normally follow in the specified order, but an element may also be set to start at an absolute time. Overlay elements (CGs, sound play, studio video wall actions etc.) may be timed relatively to the story element or start at an absolute time. For international broadcasts Mosart has the ability to work with different GMT offsets locally and for the service.
